Limbaugh is an entertainer first. He’s really just in if for the money. He tells his audience what they want to hear. I don’t know why anyone gives him the time of day. He was probably all screwed up on pain killers when he said that.

It was prescribed because of back pain and he got addicted. Today when Oxycontin is prescribed for any length of time the patient is automatically sent to rehab when it is time to quit. This wasn’t done yet when it was prescribed to Rush.

I found it humorous you put “hillbilly heroin junkie” as your description of Limbaugh. Not that it matter, but I think he was addicted to pain pills. Heroin is a pretty serious drug.

Don’t get me wrong, I can’t stand Rush. He diguises propaganda as “news”, and I think it’s cowardly of him to let his maid take the fall. But, I’ve been there, and I know what it’s like to develop a dependency to opoids. It really does sneak up on you, and it can happen to ANYone.

He is a self-serving hypocrite. Think of his controversies- Michael J Fox, phony soldiers (ironic, coming from someone who never served due to ‘medical reasons’), Operation Chaos, calling Obama a ‘Magic Negro’, and now wanting Obama (and subsequently, the policies guiding the country) to fail.
He makes it up as he goes along and his facts are often not very well described fictions. Yet since his ardent followers take his word as gospel truth, who needs facts?

and so what if limbaugh says drug addiction is abhorrent behavior. IT IS. He admits to have been addicted before and he is over it now. He’s not going to say Drug addiction is an OKAY thing to do just because he was an addict before. He’s not a hypocrite like some.

No sane person prefers to be an addict. I imagine he started taking them for pain and took one too many. If you have never been addicted to narcotics you cannot understand how difficult it is to quit. Withdrawal from from hydrocarbon (Vicodin) or Oxycodone (Pervading) is unbelievably difficult, both physically and mentally. Not only do you have a renewal of the original pain, only amplified, but a total emotional collapse leaving one with no mental strength at all.
I am not a fan of his, but have to give him that much.
