Nicotine is addictive, but nowhere nearly as much as many other drugs there are out there. Heroin and its derivatives are the most addictive drugs known.

Can’t answer that but I found it easier to quit smoking than I expected. Cold turkey in 1989.Caffeine is more of an addiction .After several attempts, I can’t quit coffee.

heroin is more addictive.
it takes people much longer to become addicted to nicotine then heroin.
do heroin once and youre hooked.
smoke a cig, you wont get addicted.

the girl who said you do heroin once and you’re hooked has NO IDEA what she’s talking about.
but anyway, i don’t know which one’s more addictive, but i do know the reason there’s so many junkies is because withdrawal from heroin is a lot worse than withdrawal from nicotine.
(also heroin feels a lot better)
some people can’t tolerate it so they stay on it.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) has stated that nicotine is the most addictive drug there is. The actual addiction mechanism in the brain is almost identical to that of cocaine.
There is, however, a genetic defect some people have that cause them to metabolize nicotine much slower than most. This causes the nicotine level in the blood to remain higher for much longer. The effect is very similar to using a nicotine patch or gum to quit, only it is “built in”. Perhaps you fall into this category.
Or perhaps you were strongly motivated to quit. 99% (my estimate) of a successful nicotine quit is psychological. BTW, I quit in May of 2005, so I understand.
Bless your heart and congratulations on your success.

Form the New York Times, August 2, 1994: “When heavily dependent users of cocaine are asked to
compare the urge to take cocaine with the urge to smoke
cigarettes, about 45 percent say the urge to smoke is as strong
or stronger than that for cocaine.
Among heroin’ addicts, about 3 percent rank the urge to smoke as
equal to or stronger than the urge to take heroin. Among those
addicted to alcohol, about 50 percent say the urge to smoke is at
least as strong as the urge to drink.
The standard definition of addiction comes from the American Psychiatric Association and the World Health Organization, which list nine criteria for determining addiction. The two groups, which prefer the term drug dependence, base their definition on research done since the 1960′s, which has determined that multiple traits must be considered in determining whether a substance is addictive. Thus although cigarettes do not offer as intense an effect as drugs like heroin and cocaine, they rank higher in a number of other factors. They not only create dependence among users but also elicit a high degree of tolerance, the need for more and more of drug to satisfy a craving. When all the factors are added up, the consensus among scientists is that nicotine is strongly addictive. “
