Can anyone please help me? What is the best way for an alcoholic to quit drinking, rather than cold turkey???
AA isn’t working, and he won’t take the pill that makes you sick, but he does want to quit. Any more ideas?

if it’s not cold turkey it’s anibuse, a court ordered pill that makes you sick with one sip

OKay so I am 23. I am a recovering heroin addict who has been clean for 3 years with the help of methadone maintenance. I am very stable with my recovery and i want to start getting off the methadone. I have a 5 month old baby as well… I am currently suffering from nervousness, worrying, anxiety ect. I went for a mental health eval today and she wants me to go see a therapist. I am going in 9 days. I am very reclusive and i do not want to do anything or go anywhere. I will not drive with my baby if i have to go over 35 miles an hour. I watch these true crime shows and after they are over i worry for like the next hour that someone is going to break in my house and kill me… I worry about finances, and just daily things. I overanalize things a lot. It may seem as if im jumping around a lot but im just letting it flow…
Anyways, I have never had a full blown anxiety attack but when i am anxious i am very uncomfortable. Its as if someone is sitting on my chest i find myself taking a lot of deep breaths just to get a few seconds of relief. Deep breathing is great but not a lasting cure for me… I do not want to get on any anti anxiety meds except i am open to ativan because you can take it on a as needed basis. I do not want to take benzos three times a day everyday and be a zombie…. I do feel that i need something for my rough times when i need to relax! I dont want to just bring this up to my new therapist because i dont want him or her to think im just another junkie looking for a high. I feel that a chill pill when i get so uncomfortable from my anxiety will do wonders for me…. Right now i dont evn think i could hold a steady job- luckily i am a stay at home mom. but money is tight and i want to get a weekend job but right now the way i feel that is unthinkable…. I have never been on any meds and can anyone give me sometips to telling my therapist what i feel i need a little easier… I am going to get a blood workup from a reg doctor too. I dont want to go on anti depressants til i do that but my anxiety is pretty apparent and i think i need something to calm down sometimes… let me know what your thoughts are thank you….

you could be suffering anxiety because of your previous addicting and being a mom….you should talk to your therapist about this because anti-depression pills are not addicting at least not from what i’ve heard…they have different medications suited for people and i personally take a 1 pill of prozac daily and it has changed my life and i feel great!

Several months ago I met up with an old GF from HS who had to move away, so we never really broke up, but we moved on since there was nothing we could do about it. 25 years goes by and I get phone call from her and we start seeing each other again. It was a fantastic romantic and emotional reunion & it’s been pretty darn fun, but over the past few months, I’ve learned of some horrible things about her past, from her. I’ve also found that she is most sensitive & not nearly as warm & loving as she was 25 years ago. The reason for this is clear; her past has been atrocious. Her parents were cruel, she became addicted to heavy drugs & was a homeless runaway who ended up with even worse people than her parents. She was raped & beaten, forced into prostitution & crime and has done several years in jail for those crimes. She was raped again and became pregnant, which got her into a shelter, off of drugs & therapy. 4 years after she her son & kept him, she fell off the wagon and started using heroin again. But she knew she couldn’t do that again, so she sought help at a methadone clinic where she is now on methadone maintenance & hasn’t used drugs at all for 7 years, aside from the low dose methadone. She is involved with a women’s therapy group as well as a private therapist.
Also she has been a lesbian since her son was born, but I’m a guy and she’s pursuing me.
So I’m a regular dude, who has never solicited sex from a hooker, nor have I ever been in prison. I’m a clean man with a job and honor, dignity and self respect. When I first saw her after 25 years it was one of the most incredible & awesome moments in my life, because we really did love each other way back in the day. But now after slowly learning about her history, it’s like a nightmare. I love her, but I’m blown away by the things she has done & the decisions she made. So really, what am I supposed to do now? How can I come to terms with all that and have peace of mind with this woman, or do you believe what I believe, that I’m stained now & life is too short to take an ex-junkie prostitute, thug & rape victim seriously? I’ve been very good to her & I do love her, but I am stressed beyond my comfort zone about her crazy life & I’d like some thoughts, advice or comments, just so I can use the information to help me make my own decision. Thanks for reading & considering my questions.

I am not a drug user, addict, or junkie. I have only and will only use ONE drug for very rare recreational use. and that is Pot. I have no desire to use any other drug, and have red devastating stories about these drugs, and about their incredibly addictive properties (such as one hit of Crystal Meth or Heroin will probably hook you for life= your life is ruined / over)
i will never ever do anything other than pot. but i am very interested in trying ecstasy for one time in my life. but have a question about it.
The Question: If you were to get Ecstasy or ‘X’ that was cut or laced with something like methamphetamine or ‘meth’, or cocaine or heroin, does that mean that you might also be using it?, does it make you crave the drug it was laced with? meaning you are also slightly addicted to the drug it was cut with?
i am seriously concerned with this, as i do not want to suddenly be addicted to something as awful / destructive as meth or heroin or cocaine ect.
thank you in advance.
(even if its a slight addiction because you usually don’t know what you’re getting with ecstasy and cannot rely too much on the face of the tablet, it could’ve been cut with anything)

ecstacy is cut with all sorts of stuff,mostly stuff like caffiene,it has been known to be cut with cheaper speed and ketamine(horse tranquilisers)best steer clear of it,i dont think it would get you hooked but its not advisable to try it

Okay, I’m not a stupid girl but my boyfriend has become a full blown junkie. I love him more than life, People blame me for getting drunk with him at concerts and stuff because they don’t understand what he’s like, They think I’m a bad influence. He is a very talented musician and beautiful guy. I worry most because Heroin is a less popular drug now than 10 years ago so it could be getting mixed with other drugs. I can’t stand him hurting himself but I wont let go of him. What should I do? Any opinions help.

it means you like to drink and that means you have a problem and need help to control the drinking every day. now if it was a few beers every once in a blue moon then there is no problem. but wanting to drink every day is a problem. you may not see it now but it is a problem that needs help. drinking doesn’t solve anything. so why do you drink.

She was addicted to pain killers ,and stole the drugs from her own organization.Then to top it off she didnt do any jail time .My guess (and its a very good one)thats because she is rich and she is married to a US senator.If it were you are I ,WOW we would still be in jail.
