My name is Shane and I am addicted to Chap stick.

I guess I first got introduced to Chapstick during the blizzard of 1979 in Chicago when sub freezing temperatures caused any exposed skin to become frost bitten in a matter of minutes. I started off small, just a few strokes and my lips were covered for most of the day.
Fast forward to 2009. I have a hundred different flavors, brands, and types of chapstick in my car, home, pockets, etc. I must put chapstick on every five minutes or so. I go through at least ten tubes a month. I dont have OCD either. If I don;t get my chapstick when I need it, I go into panic mode. When I finally find some, a strange calmness overtakes me and I feel a sense of self confidence, and re assurance that life is OK after all.
My question is : Is Chapstick addictive? Is there some chemical in it that makes you crave it? I never tried drugs before but I imagine that this is how a junkie must feel. I ran out of chapstick one time and all the stores nearby were out of stock. I called a guy who has contacts in the underworld and he suggested that I might be able to acquire some on the black market. They wanted me to prostitute myself. To go and sleep with old men. I said.–it’s chapstick, not Heroin! He said take it or leave it.
I am ashamed to say it but I did it. I slept with an old man for a half a jar of carmex and a used up Burts beezwax with hair on it.
This is what my life has been reduced to.

Hello, here is my story.
I got in to heroin early this summer and have became pretty attached to it, and the thing is I am only 17 years old and not like this at all.
I live in a nice area with a family that would never even suspect me to touch marijuana. I live with my Mother and Step-Father.
I have been getting my dope from one of my biological father’s best friends growing up, and I have also bought it from another dealer through a friend, I have been doing it almost everyday for the last two months (I IV mostly, and only snort when I have to). Just recently there was a big bust where I got some of my stuff through my friend, and my Father’s friend just recently decided that it was wrong to sell heroin to minors, and he didn’t want my Father to find out he was selling to me. So he is ignoring all my calls and won’t talk to me.
It’s been almost a week and I don’t know what to do, I have never felt pain like this before and I had no idea what I was getting myself in to. The thing is, I don’t know any dealers and most won’t sell to me because of my age. The only drug I really did before heroin was just weed and Oxycontin (sometimes). I’ve been crying myself to sleep (when I can), and a lot of my friends don’t even want anything to do with me. I am too afraid to tell my family, and I can only hope that I can get through this.
With all of this being said however, I still will never forget this crazy ass summer. AND the truth is, even after all the pain I am going through… If I had some dope, I would still shoot that shit up just to get that feeling again…
Thanks for listening, I hope I didn’t sound like a whining junkie even though I guess I am.
I just needed to get this out, because there aren’t many people I can talk to about this. Thank you.

Some drugs are good in moderation, others are bad all together. Based on your answer I can assume your mind is pretty much locked up into the modern mind set of today’s media. All drugs are bad, they lead to hell, praise God!?!

If you do a lot of exercise and healthy habits, could you recover from the brain damage caused by drugs and alcoholism?

Yes eating right and exercising help much when you are on the road to recovery. Whatever you do though, don’t allow yourself any excuses for returning to your previous life. It sometimes takes years for normal brain activity to return.

She just won’t budge. I already tried talking to her, but when she starts telling me that heroin makes her happy, I just don’t know what to say next. She’s so stubborn. I wish I knew what to say to her to make her change her mind. Can someone please give me suggestions? I really want to help her.

It’s a good thing that she has someone like you who’s willing to help her. Have you tried talking to her about the harmful effects of heroin? It might open her eyes as to what heroin really does to her body. She has lived a lot of years of her life without heroin, it wouldn’t do her any good to just keep on depending upon it now. It’s not helping her, it’s only ruining her body and her mind. Tell her that she’s better off without the drug. Tell her that heroin is messing with her brain and you want the real her back. You can also get professionals to help you with this. You can call 800-559-9503 to ask for advice. You can also bring in her closest family members and friends to do a drug intervention. I really hope she listens. Good luck and I’ll keep her in my prayers.

My best friend used to be addicted to drugs, but went through rehab and revelations and is now sober. But he says he is still a junkie. I don’t understand. I know he definitely doesn’t do drugs anymore. Can he still legitimately be considered a junkie?

Talk to the counselor, or teacher at your school. You need some help to deal with this. They will be able to advise you about what to do. You shouldn’t deal with this alone.

women drug addicts should have treatment and centers, just like they do for guys. (i’m pretty sure they have some already) and yes, alcohol and drug addiction is a serious problem in out society.

She was addicted to pain killers ,and stole the drugs from her own organization.Then to top it off she didnt do any jail time .My guess (and its a very good one)thats because she is rich and she is married to a US senator.If it were you are I ,WOW we would still be in jail.
