Drug prohibition increases the price of illegal drugs which makes traffick very profitable which creates drug related violence which funds terrorism which puts in jail 80% of jail inmates who then learn how to be better dealers and progress in their careers to bigger more violent crimes.

Drug addiction is a personal curse but if drugs were cheap there would be no need to resort to crime to get them and the consequences would be much less extended to society than the consequences of drug prohibition.

Since drug addiction is so often attributed to poverty and lack of social services why do many poor populaces like in Egypt, Iraq, and China not suffer from the same degree as inner-city regions in the USA or Russia?

They don’t. Their addictions are under-reported due to a lack of services and widespread intimidation directed against drug addicts.

As you seem to have distinguished there are in fact two types of addictions: pyscological, and physiological (what you call a drug addiction). The two are very simmilar, and in many drugs both present (cocain, meth, etc.). However there are suttle differences (mostly found in the symptoms. For example physiological addiction will manifest itself through physical symptoms (painful withdrawl, erratic behavior, etc.), whereas psycological symptoms are more often not as easy to notice (decreased mental capactiy, strong feeling of need toward the drug, etc.). The short answer to your question is yes.

I have a friend who happens to be addicted to sleeping pills. It started out as a need because she’s insomniac, but for some reason, she has found a way to experience euphoria from use of the drug. She buys a lot and when I asked her what she uses it for, she even cajoled me to try. I would like to find an addiction treatment center so I can find out more information about this kind of addiction and maybe then I can get someone to talk to her about her condition.

My son’s father is a drug addict and I almost never allow him to see his father. One of my best friends is an alcoholic and I am trying to help her through it. They both act very similar and I’m wondering if there is any difference between being a drug addict and an alcoholic. Both can be violent and I don’t ever allow them around my son when they are high or drunk. It’s very hard not to distance myself from these people totally.

I think that by taking drugs you are more likely to die because they do more damage to your body. But being an alcoholic is just as bad, you could get alcohol poisoning and when you get that you throw up blood, yea I’m sorry it’s gross but it’s the truth. BUT both of them are very very bad there really is no specific difference NEVER attempt to anything drug or alcohol related

You really have to check out this website….. I saw this place on MTV They did a rehab show at one of there centers. I really thought it was cool DJ am did the show there and this place is really cool.
