take control of your life. you only live once and you should do the best you can for yourself because at the end of the day you have to live with yourself. every day is a new day and you can change your life in an instant. if you follow through with the plan you will be happy forever.

teen alcoholism has always been around. as long as alcohol has, it’s only in the last century of so that people think it is wrong. it used to be accepted as a way of life for everybody and nobody thought the better. it’s not teen alcoholism that is new, it’s the restrictions regarding it. ie. the drinking ages imposed etc.

You have to call 911!!!
Under age or NOT .. IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO HIM YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE!!!
Your body gets rid of alcohol through the lungs.. and he may be having a reaction!!!
His parents love him and would rather have him alive.. He will be forgiven
ARE YOU CALLING???

Is Alcoholism Really a Disease?
Feb 2nd
Question by Mike Fields: Is Alcoholism Really a Disease?
Best as I understand it, the idea that alcoholism is a “disease” comes from the popular 12-Step methods (such as Alcoholics Anonymous) so lauded for their ability to help sufferers of alcoholism. But also, best as I understand it, 12-Step programs are made up. Support groups with no science back them up and have a ridiculously high failure rates.
So you often get (and I believe this was parodied on South Park once) people living their lives with utter reckless abandon, hurting family members left and right, and blaming their behavior on the horrible “disease” of alcoholism that renders them helpless to change. I’ve heard people describe their alcoholism as if it’s something comparable to cancer or MS, something completely beyond their control for which they must always suffer and for which we ought to feel sorry for.
So I’m curious what you all think about it. Is Alcoholism really a disease?

Does rehab for alcoholism help?
Jan 26th
Question by nenndre: Does rehab for alcoholism help?
My friend drinks every day for the past 5 years. She just came out to everybody, and wants help. I found couple of places of rehab with a program lasting 30 days. It’s very expensive, so just wanted to know if anybody experienced that and if it helped or not. Thank You.
We also started AA, but not everyday that she needs. She can’t stop drinking on herself eventhough AA makes her happy, and feel better… I think she needs first detox and then AA…
Thank You so much every answear so far was really helpful in thought.

it helps some people, if they want help, and are ready to change almost everything in their lives.
The benefit of a rehab place is it gets her away from her habits and neighborhood, while she detoxes. other than that one point, I think AA is more useful.
If she goes through the rehab place, then comes back to her “old” life, with the same friends, and doesn’t work to change habits and thinking, the expensive rehab place isn’t worth the huge price.

I have a family member who needs counseling pertaining to depression / alcoholism. References needed.?

Question by why not: I have a family member who needs counseling pertaining to depression / alcoholism. References needed.?
He is currently living in central Wisconsin. He has a full time job but rarley goes to work, due to drinking heavily. Which, in turn, means he doesn’t get a full pay check. He is on the verge of loosing his house and is deep in debt, due to the above mentioned. He is in his late thirties. I’m pretty sure his work insuance will cover most of the costs. My family will cover the rest if needed. In my opinion he needs to be held in the center for a while. If he goes home in between visits he wont go back. My family living close to him has honestly tried everything. When I call he won’t pick up the phone. They are at their wits end with trying to help him. I need references to a center that will be able to give him professional help. If there are any more details needed please let me know.

I have heard some positive things about the Benjamin House in Franksville, Wisconsin, but don’t have any experience with patients from that state.
Good luck, sounds like you are on the right track to helping your relative.

Is alcoholism really a disease ?
Jan 17th
Question by : Is alcoholism really a disease ?
Seems a lot like a cop out to me.
A disease you cant control & then in treatment, they want you to admit you are powerless.
It just seems counter intuitive to me.
Ive had my share of incidents but I stopped…on my own…without help and without admitting I was powerless.
I should have stopped sooner but I am still not powerless and I don’t believe its a disease.
Isn’t it possible the traditional treatment is WRONG ?? I mean, its not like they have a good track record.

Would this help to avoid alcoholism?
Jan 14th
Question by may ray<3: Would this help to avoid alcoholism?
OK…so would your chances of being an alcoholic be lower if you drank something with a lower alcohol content than one with a higher one? Or does it matter?
Also…i have a friend who believes that she can either drink nothing or get drunk out of her ass (when she turns 21 of course) and she says that since she has poor impulse control she’ll do the latter…do you think it would be best for her to just avoid alcoholic drinks altogether and how can i tell her?
