How do i get away from my dad?

Question by : How do i get away from my dad?
well i have a twin brother as well we are both 20 now still living at home and have been searching like crazy for work, or what we want to make a career in so we can start school (college). my brother and i are up in the morning’s and out looking for a job. when we are asked to do something around the house such as yard work, cleaning, or just general labor we are sure that the job is done. our dad is an alcoholic and can consume as much as a 24 case to himself in just a couple of hours. when he drinks he is a completely different person then the dad i know. (Example) tonight was one of the worse nights we have had in the past couple of weeks, we had both been up early in the morning helping some friends move and we didn’t get done until around 4:30 in the afternoon, from there we went home and layed a small dump truck load of mulch and replanted some tree’s and flowers in the gardens we finished around 7:00 we were tired so we went upstairs and fell to sleep we don’t go to bed early often but we did today. we try to stay busy and out of the way so that are not just laying around all day doing nothing. we woke up at 10:30pm and were all out of cigarettes so we decided maybe we should run up to the store and get some. we walked downstairs outside and my dad was down the hill sitting in the hot tub. we decided to walk down the hill to say hello to him before we left to get our smokes (BIG MISTAKE!) as we approached him more we noticed all the beer cans sitting around him we knew he wasn’t drunk because the man never gets drunk he just gets angry, really angry. we both proceeded in saying our hello and that we were going to make a quick run to the store. he didn’t answer but he kind of growled at us i tugged my brothers shoulder and said “come on lets just get the hell out of here” as we turned our backs to him he jumped out of the hot tub and grabbed us both he turned us around and started to spit in our faces he was yelling at the top of his lungs that we were nothing to him except useless pieces of shit! he was screaming in our face to get a job! get a job! (well we live in Michigan and there isn’t jobs flying off the hook here) i tried to talk with him and ask him why he is doing what he was doing he said he was doing it because he can it was his house and he can scream at 10:30 at night and wake the neighbors if he wants too. he then asked me if i liked him screaming in my face i muffled “no sir i don’t” then he threw back his fist and tried to hit me but i was able to move “thank god” my brother and i are helpless when it comes to his anger he could kill us with one punch. when we tied to get away from him he yelled “if you leave now don’t ever come back” so we can’t leave because we won’t have a place to live. we hardly have an money or we’d move, we are in desperate search for a job so that we can get out of here his anger sperts are getting worse and worse he blames us for the reasons he fights and argues with my mom. when we are hardly ever home to have anything remotely close to being a cause to his reasons to fight with my mother, he has hit us before but the verbal abuse is becoming to much to take please what should we do? how the hell can i get away from this man? keep in mind I’m 20 years old i can’t scream child abuse i’m a little old for that. i can’t go stay at a relatives house because they all live in Canada and i have no way of getting to them. i know this is long to have read but this is all i can do to get it out there that the man that sleeps through the walls from us is a monster. please how do we get away from this crazy man? i have thought about calling the police before but I’m afraid it will only make things worse.

Should I have my neice taken away from her mother?

Question by Sammy: Should I have my neice taken away from her mother?
Long story but, essentially, my sister in law has been using drugs (hard core stuff) for many years. Six years ago, she got pregnant by a fellow junkie-she used heroin during pregnancy. When social services got involved, the mom tried to have the child placed with mom’s mom (child’s grandmother) who drinks and smokes pot. We let social services know and as a result the child was placed in foster care. The mom got angry at us (duh, you’re the one that used!) for letting them know. She eventually got the child back and when the child was about 18 months old, mom got back with the child’s father. He beat her in front of the child, prostituted in front of the child (they were living in a motel), and drugged. An aunt offered to allow mom and child to stay with them. A year later, mom was found using. The aunt kicked mom out but kept the child, allowing the child to have visits. The aunt suspects mom has been using throughout the time, high during the visits. Last week, mom was invovled in a hit and run then overdosed. Mom was hospitalized but is now out of the hospital. Anyhow, I believe the aunt should keep her away from the mother (who is not very nice to her daughter) as her mother poses a physical and emotional risk to the child. Who would put a kid in a car with an intoxicated individual? I believe the trauma of being away from her mom is only one trauma compared to all teh trauma’s she’s going to endure by having the mother involved. What do you think and why?

You should get a lawyer and/or child services involved, but, honestly, the biological mom blew her chances already. Right now, as you said, she is a danger to her daughter physically and emotionally. Your niece is probably too young to fully understand what’s going on, but she definitely knows something’s wrong. If an aunt is watching over the child, then child services should (hopefully) allow her to stay in that aunt’s care. But with the child’s mother being the way you described, i think the mother shouldn’t be allowed to have even visits allowed until she has proven she has cleaned herself up.

Q&A: Psychological propaganda through media leads to gambling and drug addiction but people throw away money?

Question by jerry pace: Psychological propaganda through media leads to gambling and drug addiction but people throw away money?
I sit and watch how people throw away there lives through addictions in life and there is more to addiction than i first thought as there is psychological conditioning in media and everyday society to make people hand over hard earned pension’s and wages each week to gambling houses and drug dealers

Best answer:

Answer by Cassie77
Our state does not allow gambling anymore but when it did
I threw away thousands of dollars and I can’t blame the media. I got this huge adrenalin rush when those triple sevens would hit and I had bet a fair amount, like 1.60 a pull. This was a 200.00 win and then you do it a few more times and get another 200.00 win and then you change machines, and wow!! It just happens again. This is addicting, the media had nothing to do with it. The problem is that you spend thousands trying to make it happen again. This was just on a slot at a convenience store. The adrenalin rush was fantastic.

Q&A: How do I help a friend who seems to be throwing life away?

Question by pepsichick1982: How do I help a friend who seems to be throwing life away?
My friend has some really awful things happen to her in the past 18 months but she doesn’t seem to care that her life is going downhill quick… Her mom was crippled from a bad stroke and her roommate shot and killed herself. She got involved with a guy that she thought was actually going to go somewhere but he ended up just using her for sex and she’s still hung up on him. My friend has now failed out of school, was in the Army and has basically failed of that as well, I belive she is an alcoholic, she just got a dui about a month ago, had to have a breathalizer put in her car, she can’t seem to stop spending money, she’s about K in debt, but she somehow seems to think that she’s doing just fine. Her job got her a counselor after her roommate died, but she continually blew that off. My BF says I should just give up on her, that she doesn’t want help or hasn’t reached the point where she’ll take it. I’ve tried to talk to her and she blows me off or lies to me. What should I do??

Q&A: Will my 17mos. old neice be taken away from my sister if she seeks drug addiction treatment?

Question by momof4: Will my 17mos. old neice be taken away from my sister if she seeks drug addiction treatment?
My sister is recently separated from her husband. She and my 16mos. old niece live with my parents, who are supporting her in every way. We are concerned with my sisters serious drug addiction to pain killers, started after the birth of my niece. My sister has a fear if she seeks treatment, the baby will be taken away from her. Is this true? How could that be? If she seeks out treatment, and the 72 hours she is in detox, her family will be taking care of the baby.

Yes, Alateen. It will also help him deal with his issues regarding his father, and also give him someone to talk to in case he starts to feel that you are hyper-vigilant or over-dramatic.
