Hangover Cures

A lot of people want to know what is the best way to cure a hangover. Well, I am definitely not the one to ask, but I have tried many things to get rid of a hangover. There are many ways I have tried to get rid of a hangover, but there is only a few ways to get stop the painful headache and other symptoms that come with being hung over. Now I know some people are different from others and others recover a lot faster from the night before. But if you are anything like me and have a terrible hangover after a good night then read the following.

The morning after a long night of drinking is often when people regret drinking the night before. You are having fun while you’re drinking but the resulting headache, fogginess, vomiting, and fatigue rarely seem worth it. There are things you can do to help prevent, minimize or treat your hangover to make the experience more enjoyable. Obviously, the first thing you can do is limit the amount you drink. Drink until you feel buzzed, and then stop, or reduce your intake to one drink an hour after that. Avoid mixing beer and hard liquor, that alone can make you throw up.

The hangover is caused by a combination of the toxic by-product of alcohol metabolism (acetaldehyde), dehydration, and Vitamin A, B (particularly B6) and C depletion brought about by the chemical action of alcohol on your system. Some drinks give you worse hangovers than others due to the actions of impurities it contains. These impurities are called congeners. It’s the ethyl alcohol (ethanol) that gets you drunk, but the amyl, butyl, methyl, propyl, and isopropyl alcohols that are also found in most drinks (more or less), and the concentration of these congeners determine how bad your hangover will be.

When you drink juices that contain fructose, you will burn the alcohol faster, which accelerates the process of getting over the hangover. The best juice to drink is tomato juice or even apple juice. They also flush out the toxins, such as the alcohol. The juices such as orange juice can be a little too acidic, which your stomach cannot handle anything harsh after a night of drinking. The Juice also contains high vitamins you need in order to get the energy to get through the hangover quickly.

Another trick such as honey can help you with the upset stomach and absorb the alcohol in your body. The crackers that you can spread the honey on also helps absorb the alcohol more quickly. When you drink alcohol, you end up dehydrating yourself and to fix that you should use lemon juice.

Than there is the sensible drinker – we all know one. Someone who never get a hangover because they drink a glass of water inbetween each glass of wine. Yes this is a great way to avoid a hangover but also means that you will make many a trip to the toilet throughout the night.

Then of course there are the hangover cures – raw eggs, bloody marys, and any other thing the next day won’t cure you but might make you feel a bit better. Apparently one of the best things for a hangover is a can of coke and a packet of crisps – but I can rarely face anything if I have drunk too much wine.
