I’ve recently been prescribed suboxone for my addiction to heroin. I’m just wondering about the success rate.?

Question by Em ha: I’ve recently been prescribed suboxone for my addiction to heroin. I’m just wondering about the success rate.?
This drug is new to me. I haven’t heard much about it. The only things that I do know about it are the things I have read on the internet. I am willing to give it a chance. I’ve been on methadone program before and it worked. It just became too expensive. I was able to get off methadone and kept clean for 4 months. Unfortunately, I recently relapsed. My new doctor only prescribes suboxone for heroin addicts. This is my second week on my medication, and isn’t working the same way methadone did for me. My cravings are unbelievable. I’m an emotional wreck and highly irritable. I know my second week on methadone was completely different. My cravings had subdued and I wasn’t as emotional. I feel helpless at the moment. There aren’t any methadone clinics in my area accepting new patients at this time, and my doctor only prescribes suboxone for heroin addicts. I am trying to stay as positive as possible, and remind myself that I am doing the right thing. But each day seems to get harder. I just wanted to know if anyone else has been through the same thing. For example, anyone else who had a hard time while taking suboxone. Are these cravings and waves of emotions going to subside or is this medication not working for me? I’m not trying to give up on suboxone, but I know this isn’t how I felt when I was on the methadone program. I have read that suboxone is highly recommended and people say it is easier to get off of when compared to methadone. BUT I don’t want to get off of it. I realize that I have an opiate dependency. I want to repair that part of my brain. And methadone was working. I wish I would have stayed on it, but I couldn’t afford it at the time. And when I stopped taking methadone, I was able to deal with the detox by weening myself off of it slowly. With this said, does anyone knows how to find a private doctor who will prescribe methadone. I know that works and I am willing to stay on the program this time no matter the amount of money. The last thing I want to do is continue to be a junkie. I have accepted that I will always be an addict, but I would like to be a recovering one from now on. Any suggestions? Advice?

Is he just making excusses?

Question by Sasa T: Is he just making excusses?
Hi, I only met this guy recently and the chemistry was just insane when we met. We couldn’t keep hands of eachother. It all went really quick and he was sure he wants to be with me (or he is saying that), he hasn’t got a problem telling me how much he likes me and how much he wants to be with me…..but then when it comes to showing it there is a little problem, he has got this friend or more friends and he is trying to please them all the time. He won’t even txt me to not upset his friend. And today he forgot to let me know its his friends bday so he didnt come to see me. He was appologizing and expecting me to forgive and forget and move on sraight away.
few das ago he was with this same friend and they wer into some disscusion and as he checked the phone to txt me, that friend went off at him saying that e is rude and not listening….so he didnt txt.
This is all very weird to me but what can I do? Do I talk to him or just let go?
He is aware of his selfish moves and behaviours, but I started seeing that maybe he doesnt want to change that.
I really don’t know what to do.
The other problem is alcohol, he stoped drinking, he knows he is alcoholic, but the behaviour is something that is hurting me a lot. Is he making his “alcoholism” excusse for his behaviours or can people like that actually love someone???
Is he just not into me, or is he really struggling with making priorities in his life?
Thank you all so much for you answers.
Much Much apreciated!!!!!
Love
Wow, To all a huge thanks for your answers! Very helpfull.

Well if he likes you, then he would explain that to his friend. I would talk to him about it, and if nothing comes from it, let him go.

How do you know when you need “help” or when your just living life?

Question by kitkatz70: How do you know when you need “help” or when your just living life?
I don’t understand why just because someone maybe having fun going out, drinking and partying it is automatically deemed as some sort of illness. There are people who can control their behavior. Their alcohol intake, etc. Why is such a far fetched notion that someone could actually be “normal”? Is it because there are so many that aren’t? Or could the ones saying it’s not “normal” behavior are just envious that someone is normal? It upsets me that we are in a society that automatically judges others because they are not like them and assumes that there is something mentally wrong and they need meds and therapy. There isn’t a person in this world that can say they have had a perfect life without a tear one. Or never felt blue, or angry. I don’t think the world needs to be on meds and needs to see a therapist for the rest of their lives. We are too willing to medicate instead of treat the underlying issues. For the most part, people just need to get over the past, realize they can’t change it, learn from it and move on. Usually just talking about it with friends helps. There are the few who do have a chemical imbalance and if it can be helped with medication then more power to them. But before we just assume that is the cure all, realize that it could do more damage than good. It could actually cause a chemical imbalance. It takes some people years of trying different cocktails of meds before they get the right perscription together, then after the body becomes acclimated to it, it needs to be changed again. The Doctors don’t even know what really works. But we (especially on this site) are so quick to diagnose. Think about it, there was life and depression way before there was psychiatrists, therapists, and meds, and society wasn’t as violent or uncaring as they are now. Does it go hand in hand. Who knows.

If a problem is not affecting your daily life and you are able to do all of the things you need to do then you don’t need help. But there are those who can’t, are unable live a life like well people. Just think about what you said that people just need to get over the past and go on. Number one we have in society people who have suffered unbelievable truamas that the mind cannot handle. For example we have soldiers returning from war who have seen and experienced what you and I could never image. They are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, many are commiting suicide because they are unable to stop reliving what they say. With help and medication this can be treated. Yes antidepressants do have to be changed after some time and some will work for one and not for another. But I can tell you it is worth being able to get up in the morning and do what you have to do. To live a life I would try and continue until I found the right medication for me. Doctor’s don’t know what works for each individual, only the individual who is using the medication can know this. Nobody on this site can diagnose, they or we can help someone in pain and direct them to help so that they will not commit suicide or live lives of misery that they don’t have to. Mental illness is a disease like heart disease and diabetes and requires medication. It is the “stigma” and lack of knowledge and not understanding the suffering of others that prevents many from getting help. There are people reaching out for help, people who are desperate and have no idea what to do. We can help them if only for a moment or advise them that they need professional help but never diagnose.

Wondering How Good The Radeon 9700 Pro Drivers Are? Then Just Read Along

The Radeon 9700 pro drivers is a high-quality card that is at the zenith of the charts based on 3D ground and is a strong competitor to the NVIDIA card. This is the epitome of all the gaming cards and even any cynical user will be at ease with this card once they have used it. This driver is sought after by so many, that its manufacturers are manufacturing it in mammoth amounts.

With this driver, its maker has come back with a transition to the various technologies like the 8X AGP and DirectX version 9. Now the OEM producers have a wider range of options while offering these products.

Never would have anyone anticipated the availability of DirectX 9 cards that cost about $200 this soon. The cards of DirectX 8 took over seven months to achieve what the 9 series graphics cards have achieved, which is rather commendable.

The Radeon 9700 pro drivers comply with brilliant performance and it would not be wrong if we termed it as one of the best visual card available. The impressive technology and the quality of the images in both 3D and 2D are amazing. This power packed card has the capacity to run and manage DOOM.

The scaling offered by the Radeon 9700 pro drivers’ board when the anisotropic and the antialiasing filters are switched on is fantastic. With the CPU sometimes running 1GHz slower, this driver still manages to outpace its competitors. In spite of having the AF and AA turned on, they have still managed to achieve benchmarks close to the threshold of 10K. It manages to provide scores of very high units even at a resolution of 1600×1200.

The three things why the Radeon 9700 pro drivers are most vouched for at the moment are it offers the maximum performance in any of the games, the capability to play any game at 1600×1200 and at 1024×768 with 16X and 4X AA at extremely leveled frame speeds.

Clean Windows Just Like The Pros

Who wants clean windows? ME ME ME ME ME! Who wants to pay for them? Booooo! Who wants to learn the easy way to clean glass that professionals use every day? We all do. Face it, nobody enjoys spraying a dirty window down with the typical blue glass “cleaner”. You know what I mean. Step one, spray on glass. Step two, smear dirt all over your window. Step three, finish with streaks and a lot of frustration. End the insanity. Here is the professional method used by glass cleaners around the world and all you need are a few simple tools.

We have all been to the gas station and cleaned our windshield with a squeegee and sponge combo sitting in dirty stagnant water. Thats NOT what you need. Go to your local hardware store get a standard 14″ squeegee, a five gallon bucket, and a glass scrubber or a large sponge. That’s all you need to buy. Now, let the fun begin.

Fill the bucket with 2 gallons of water. Add 2 tablespoons of household dish soap such as Dawn to the water. Be sure to add the soap second to reduce excess suds. Soak you glass scrubber or sponge and wipe down the window. Take a clean dry cloth and wipe dry the top inch of the class and the left inch of the glass (if you are left handed dry the right edge of the glass). Hold your squeegee vertically at the top of the glass in the dry strip to the left (if left handed hold squeegee to the right). Make sure that the top end of your squeegee is resting in the dry strip at the top of your glass. Pull your squeegee horizontally across the glass. Repeat squeegeeing making sure to keep the top one to two inches of your squeegee in the dry area as to prevent streaking. Once the entire pane has been squeegeed off, wipe all of the edges and the frame with a clean dry cloth or chamois to remove any excess water. Now step back and take a look. You will be amazed at how clean your window is and most importantly how easy it was to do.

If you have windows that are dangerous to access I do recommend you hire a professional like. Clean windows are nice but not worth broken bones.

Just How Big is The Child Drugging Iceberg?

In Florida last month a 7 year old foster child hanged himself in the bathroom of his Margate foster home. Gabriel Myers was being treated by a psychiatrist at the time of his death and was apparently being given a cocktail of dangerous mind-altering drugs.

Psychiatric drugs are linked to suicidal thoughts, depression, rage and a list of adverse and sometimes fatal side effects. This is so much a cause for concern that the law now requires drug manufacturers to provide warnings as to their dangers and Florida laws, designed to protect children from harm from such medications, forbid any child to be administered psychiatric drugs without parental or judicial approval.

In Gabriel’s case no such approval was obtained and, if true, this would place his psychiatrist in breach of the law. Gabriel’s suicide while on psychiatric medication and given the side effects of such medication suggests that the medication itself could have played a part in the little boy’s impulse to take his own life. At the very least his treatment was ineffective in helping him overcome whatever difficulties he may have been experiencing..

A senior Florida lawmaker who chairs a state Senate committee on children is so concerned that she has asked two state agencies to investigate the psychiatrist who treated Gabriel

In separate letters to the Florida Board of Medicine and the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), state Sen. Ronda R.Storms, a Brandon Republican who chairs the Children, Families and Elder Affairs Committee, requested an investigation leading to a “full report.”

Gabriel ‘s death spurred Department of Children and Families Secretary George Sheldon to appoint a work group to study the agency’s use of psychiatric drugs and its compliance with a 2005 law on the use of such medications on children in state care.

”In my view, this case raised serious concerns which demand attention and answers,” Senator Storms wrote in a May 1 letter to AHCA Secretary Holly Benson.

AHCA runs a state program that monitors the prescribing of mental-health drugs to children, the Medicaid Drug Therapy Management Program. The program tracks the prescribing of mental-health drugs to children, and flags psychiatrists with a high volume of prescriptions of mental-health drugs or potentially dangerous combinations of the medication.

The program scrutinizes the practices of about 17,000 doctors who prescribe medications to children on Medicaid, and about 300 to 450 end up red-flagged.

Dr. Sohail Punjwani, the psychiatrist who was treating Gabriel, had been red-flagged by the medication program every quarter that the list was kept, according to one administrator, .reports The Miami Herald. Surprisingly, considering such a worrying track record, Eulinda Smith, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Health reports that Punjwani has not been disciplined before by the Board of Medicine

Senator Storms wanted to know what AHCA was doing to monitor the activities of doctors whose prescribing practices were identified as “problematic” and asked, ”What guidelines or repercussions for red-flagged physicians are in place to prevent practices that result in a loss of life? What actions, legislative remedies or otherwise, should be taken which would provide the citizens of our state a greater level of protection?”

Spokespersons for both state agencies declined to discuss the requests by Storms but Ms Smith confirmed ”It’s very serious when we get a head’s-up from a legislator, That would prompt us to begin the disciplinary process.”

What is emerging now is an indication that it may have been common practice for psychiatric drugs to have been used on foster kids without the parental or judicial consent required by law. In other words, illegal drugging of young children may have been commonplace in the Florida foster care system.

In an effort to sidestep laws put in place to protect children, some doctors were prescribing powerful psychiatric medications to treat “non-psychiatric” issues. For example, if the antipsychotic drug Zyprexa was used on a foster child for “bed wetting” or some other non-psychiatric purpose – no consent from a parent was obtained.

Therefore, the state did not include these drugs when adding up the number of kids in foster care on psychiatric drugs. Therefore, the count of how many children are being drugged may have been considerably under-reported.

Just how many psychiatrists were involved in the illegal child-drugging is not yet clear.

More than 20,000 case files of foster children in Florida are under review in the wake of Gabriel’s death. Just under 10 percent of these children – 1,954 – were listed as being on mood-altering drugs, said John Cooper, the DCF’s acting assistant secretary for operations.

That number is excessive enough considering the age of the children, the devastating side effects the drugs can have and the way psychiatric drugging invariably sets in train a mental and physical deterioration of the victim but it will rise markedly when DCF releases the findings of its current study next week. “I don’t know by how much, but it will be significant,” Cooper said.

In Gabriel’s case, he was listed in the database as being prescribed Adderall, an attention deficit/hyperactivity drug but two others, which Gabriel was taking when he died (Symbyax and Vyvanse) had not been approved by either his parents or a judge – and this is violation of state law.

DCF Director Sheldon, has said he wants every aspect of Gabriel’s case investigated and people held accountable.

So do the rest of us.
