I Don’t Know What Happened?
Jan 28th
Question by L*star*: I Don’t Know What Happened?
My husband and I were happy for 4yrs. The last 4 have sucked! Fighting and yelling. I feel like he doesn’t want to be here one minute and then the next everything is peachy? Bi-polar maybe? Anyway- I was in love with someone before we were together- high school sweethearts. The greatest guy ever. We were engaged, then heroin came to our town and he tried it one night at a party (which I did not attend). I think you know what happened next- he was a junkie. I had to end it- which killed me. Now 11 yrs later he is clean and sober- his sister is still my best friend (we were paired up in her wedding) he is going to school and doing great. When ever we see each other and talk- we giggle like teenagers. A big part of my heart still belongs to him. My husband doesn’t like to hold hands or be affectionate- I feel like I just have a roommate. With my ex- we never fought until the drugs came in. Any suggestions?

Don’t go down that road………… You are a married woman and you should concentrate 100% on fixing the problems in your marriage not compicating them with memories or old flames from the past.
Seek Marriage counseling to help you and your hubby resolve the issues facing your marriage.
Best of Luck

Do you know any charity services who provide councilling for depression or alcoholism?
Dec 11th
Question by kittiesandsparklelythings: Do you know any charity services who provide councilling for depression or alcoholism?
I’m trying to find something for my boyfriend, if I can convince him to do it. The problem is that he isnt insured and neither of us has much in the way of money to pay for services. Even just some websites with information on maybe what I can do to help him would be of great health. I intend to ask my chaplain about this as well. Thanks!

Does anyone know of any support groups for long term pain management?
Oct 31st
Question by Christina L: Does anyone know of any support groups for long term pain management?
I have been diagnosed with a painful and so far untreatable medical condition that cause benign cysts and tumors to form throughout my body. I have several in my eyes and head that are very painful and for this reason have been on Methadone for pain management for several years. It is something that I will probably be taking for life as condition does not respond to treatment. I worry about the affect that this has on my children and become depressed thinking of being a slave to pain killers (not to mention the stigma that comes with it-most people assume that I am a junkie and taking it for heroin withdrawl) though the alternative is to be unable to function because of high levels of pain. Are there any support groups out there for people on long term pain management?

Anyone else know what alcoholism is like?
Oct 20th
Question by kermit50000: Anyone else know what alcoholism is like?
I’m only just coming to terms with the fact that I’m an alcoholic. That fact alone, to someone who cannot accept any kind of weakness in himself, is devastating- but the fact that I’m suicidally depressed doesn’t help.

I struggle with (extreme) drunkenness, myself. Todays example: I worked from 9:30am to midnight, tomorrow I have to be at work at 6:00am and I’ll work to 1:00am(19 hrs without sitting) yes, I know this will soon kill me. In between, I find the time to consume a bottle of wine. Work is gonna suck, but I’ll tough it out. As to your condition of being suicidally depressed (yeah, me too): Suicide is an incredibly important decision. You must make sure to communicate this is what you want (through your continued ‘efforts’, not something to be done quickly (as to eliminate second thoughts, loved ones input, alternate views, new perspectives, etc…). The only thoughtful, reasonable route is starvation. This must be earned. As for me: I’m 5’7″, 145lbs, and in 1 month, lost 37lbs, finished every day with a cocktail of Kahlua and milk of magnesia. Cal me, Tom (anytime).

Anyone know about tryptophan for Alcoholism treatment?

Question by srar: Anyone know about tryptophan for Alcoholism treatment?
I heard it helps with impulse control.

I wouldn’t use this unless it is being prescribed by a doctor or psychiatrist. It is much better to concentrate on good general nutrition, and perhaps a daily vitamin supplement. Alcoholism is a disease of body, mind and spirit, and the best insurance against relapse is involvement with Alcoholics Anonymous.

The longer you put it off, the bigger the problem. Just TELL THEM!
