Aside from meth I’m not certain drug and alcohol addictions involve anything other than a life challenge. I’m reasonably confident the state of the soul is independent of drug and alcohol addictions, except possibly tweakers and blasters.
Tweakers and blasters might be a different matter, though I’m not able to say so with certainty.
My thought is that music’s good for the soul usually, except hiphop and Christian rock.

Choosing a music school can be a time-consuming choice. At first you will need to make many decisions, but once you have decided on these, you will still need to undertake a significant exploration to focus your interests and choice of a music school.
Steps to help you evaluate each school or program:
Often the school’s website will provide a “Q&A” or FAQ page which will answer the most common questions. Most music schools provide detailed information about their programs , amount of tuition and fees, intake times, student demographics, and more!
The chemistry between you and the teacher is important. Speak to the teacher before the lesson. Ask them these questions:
- What is teaching methodology
- What are your expected timeframes for achieving your personal musical goals
- What is interesting about the guitar
Evaluate their responsiveness for your request. If a music school or agency is committed to excellent customer service. From their responses, you would know how they would support you in any other additional concerns.
