Question by me: those who have struggled with alcoholism. please help?
I don’t drink daily or even weekly but when i do drink, i always drink to the point of blackout. Its ruining my life. Ive lost jobs, friends, family, possessions, money, self respect and soon my health. I want to quit and I always say Im going to but it seems like only a matter of time before Im back at it again. Im just looking for some encouraging words and maybe some advice form anyone who may understand.

take control of your life. you only live once and you should do the best you can for yourself because at the end of the day you have to live with yourself. every day is a new day and you can change your life in an instant. if you follow through with the plan you will be happy forever.

I gave him water and its a little better.. and we dont know where his parents are.. hes underage and doesnt want to go to the hospital.. please can someone help. this is a life death situation.. im never letting him drink again.. someone please please please help me

addicted to a prescription drug called adderall.
She is 17 and she takes it everyday and it is not prescribed to her, I have absolutley no idea where she gets it because she won’t tell me. She keeps using the excuse “atleast im not doing meth and heroin, its a drug that doctors give out” But still, she is losing weight and acts just like a junkie in my opinion. I dont know much about adderall but I thought it was just a adhd med to calm people down so why would she even take it? Im confused.. help.

Alright…Well I’ve been extremely depressed lately with losing my job a few months ago I have fallen behind on bills, before that I had a long struggle with my father being an alcoholic, and moving around as a result of their divorce has also taken it’s toll on me. My dilemma is….Should I keep working 68+ hours a week to catch up on my bills a little quicker or no? My full time job pays enough for me to catch up within about…two and a half months. But if I work both jobs I will probably catch up…In about a month and a half…
Working two jobs is taking it’s toll on my mental and physical health. And my mental health is already poor. I can’t think straight anymore, I barely sleep. I barely have time to do laundry or eat….Or take care of things around the house right now. When both job schedules conflict I end up getting only about 10 hours of sleep in a 3-4 day time period because I try to get as much as I can done around the house.
Is it worth working two jobs?
Thank you all so much for your insight. I normally would know the answer but I’ve been very indecisive lately. I’m going to get sleep now, I’m incredibly tired. I’ll pick the best answer later.

I’ve been reading bits and pieces about this suboxone pill all day. I read right here on Yahoo Answers that if you put it under your tongue, let half of it dissolve then spit it out. You get the active chemical … or something like that.
The main thing i’m trying to figure out is, why is she walking around like a zombie when she’s on this stuff ?
Then when she’s not on it. She gets withdrawal symptoms like a heroin addict.
Oh yeah, by the way she was on heavy pain killers / opiates. Not heroin itself.
What is going on with her, is the use or misuse of this stuff turning her into a junkie ?

I don’t do drugs, but recently I’ve been contemplating on starting to use something. I’m unfamiliar with drugs, except for their names to be honest. I was thinking cocaine or heroin, I know speed and acid are an option too, although I heard acid and speed are dangerous.
I don’t want to be associated with a negative culture of “pot head” or a “club junkie” as an Ecstasy user, so I’m leaning more toward Heroin or Cocaine. Safety is my number one concern, I only want a new experience and perhaps try a new life style.
I think I am level headed and intelligent enough to be able to resist addiction or at very least be able to stop drug use if it negatively impacts my life.
Basically what I’m trying to say is that I’m looking for a drug that will make me feel REALLY good.

I live a very full and balanced life, I enjoy an occasional drink even though someone could consider it an addictive substance. I’ve never the effects of addiction, I understand that the withdrawal process is painful but I feel confident in the fact that I can control any of my urges.

The guy I really like said I used to be a bastard to girls and now karma is getting me back for it.
He said that 2 years ago, on his online page, I think he’s changed himself though.
He is an alcoholic, and he’s done drugs mainly weed. His ex dumped him & turnt into a lesbian but there still friends. He didn’t have a good childhood, he got bullied about his appearance, his dad would come home stoned and drunk (that’s all I know) and he hates his dad. He gets angry very quick, although it’s not anger its sadness, I can tell by his tone of voice. He gets angry at objects not people as he got angry when he had his PREVIOUS girlfriend he’d leave her and get angry alone so he won’t do it to me, he punches & breaks his stuff not people. He also can joke about sex with me occasionally but he doesn’t like me touching him as he’s very very nervous I think.
He opens the door for me, always helps me even if he himself is busy, he’s concerned if I’m sad. He did and does all this before I told him how I feel. He’s really shy, he finds it hard to look at me in the eyes and when he does I smiled at him and he went bright red like a baboon’s bum. His voice is softer around me, and he puffs his chest out to impress me when I sit next to him. He uncontrollably smiles when I’m around, he is funny, we have same history like same music, etc. He doesn’t care that I have exczma on my face and that I’m chubby, he likes my personality and he was so scared of messing it up with me he’d refrain from saying much as he was so shy, he still is but not as much. I’ve never met anyone so different from most guys.
What do u think & don’t tell me not to date him as I really want to I’d just like some advice please. I’m 18 Hes turning 20 in a few weeks.

First of all I am a healthy “physically” and in-shape 21 year old guy… now that that’s out of the way I’ll continue
I hate my life, I am so sick of everything, the only people I even care about are my close family and I don’t have any friends at all. I am literally finished, I really don’t want to talk about it but I’ll try.
Basically it STARTED with a haircut, I have been growing my hear out for over a year and it was in excellent condition but I had to cut it due to an interview, I heavily regret it and so does my family, the reason I cut it was because I am in a government program for schooling and they forced me.
The next reason is because my life is horrible, I’m always sad and full of regret. I am having such a hard time typing this and I’;m crying. I literally just want to die right now, I have never been in a relationship and most people think I’m weird. I’m very emotional on the inside but seem cold on the outside and people don’t understand, I have been taking therapy for over a year now since my liver failed from an overdose in 2010 and it’s not helping.
I know it is about perception but I don’t have a job and have been fired 3 times already in my life, I have abused drugs like a junkie and used to take double the amount as normal for heroin which was my drug of choice. I bought the heroin with money from my grandfather that he left me in his will now I am broke and my internal organs are shot and even excersize won’t help that.
I feel like the world has passed me by, I miss high school and my friends from back then. I want to go back in time so bad that it’s scary, I am so shot these days.
I abuse alcohol and chain smoke, I don’t even smoke regularly and will only smoke when I can smoke at least 6 cigarettes in one sitting and I abuse tequila and cheap beer regularly despite the fact that my liver is shot and it can hurt.
I have a few triggers and when they go off I get even more self destructive, as you have seen haircuts are one and no matter how much councilling I do it will not go away, Another are the names Megan and Lynn which were 2 girls that I had slept with in the past and felt something for but it never went anywhere. Another is alcohol, when I see another person drink be it at a party or not I will drink in excess “I only weigh 155″ and will binge drink until I vomit and then drink after that but I can’t ever get drunk enough to instantly balck out no matter what sadly.
Okay I am done I can’t take anymore, please give me a reason to live based on what I had typed above.

I’v noticed that the in some U.S. States, people who smoke marijuana are treated like they are a junkie or a bad guy, they are kind of looked down upon and some will say “you need to go to rehab, you have a drug problem” when they get caught smoking a single joint. I’m from Canada, and here Marijuana is very contraversional but even those who are highly against it, don’t look down upon the poeple who smoke it like they are a junkie. My dad was a cop and he was againts marijuana use, he thought marijuana use was wrong BUT he would never look down at someone like they were a junkie if they smoked pot. I mean, it’s not like crack-cocaine or heroin. People who use those drugs are junkies but not pot users. In some States, if you smoke pot in high school, you could be in a lot of trouble and they will guilt you so much you would think pot is the Devil’s drug, but here in Canada, if you smoke pot at school, they would send you home at worst. It’s frowned upon, but the teaches don;t think you have a drug problem if your caught with a joint, maybe if you were caught with a gram of cocaine they would think you have a drug problem, but not over pot.
I just want to know why???

They believe the propaganda and most people seem to fall in to 2 categories:
1. Marijuana is as “dangerous” as crack and all users are horrific addicts.
2. Marijuana is “Just an Herb” and has no dangers what so ever and is 100% non-addictive.
Both sides are horribly wrong.
I don’t smoke weed anymore and haven’t in many years because it now triggers anxiety attacks but I see marijuana as it is, a psychoactive chemical that, with heavy use, causes a degrade in mental capabilities and is addictive to a very small number of people.
It i far less harmful than alcohol and should be treated as the drug it is, with respect and not something to be used all the time.

I’ll give you a quick rundown so you don’t think I am a total d*ck for asking this. My dad is an alcoholic who constantly lies about drinking and uses people to get what he needs. Over the years he has really made a bad name for himself with the family. I have tried everything I can to help him get better, rehabs, doctor visits, even helped him find a place to live with some really nice people(he is only 53 btw). Now his health is falling apart just had a pace maker put in and his gal bladder removed. They have told him he will die soon if he continues drinking. He wont stop drinking so I am afraid for the worst but I dont have money for a funeral. What do I do?

Does he not have insurance, a pension, any sort of money put into anything?
Failing that, you have him cremated. No need to have a funeral. You can have a memorial service instead.
