Hey TEENS, I could really use your help with my teen novel?

Question by humbug: Hey TEENS, I could really use your help with my teen novel?
Okay, so most of you have heard the plot to my “Cranbert Nelson” novel already. I don’t want to bore you with the whole thing, so basically I’ll give you guys a quick summary. It’s a lot more detailed than this but I need to make this quick.

Cranbert Nelson is a nerdy, fifteen year old freshman in high school. He gets assigned to do a sixth month project with bad-boy Blaze who just got out of Juvi. Both of them have a crush on OCD paranoid, sweet and popular Megan Hershey, who often gets ignored by guys because her best friend Penelope takes up all the attention. Blaze goes to the school mobster, called “The Candy Man” for advice on Megan, who secretly works out of the janitors closet. “The Candy Man” just so happens to be Reese Nelson, Cranbert’s older brother. Reese is always paid in Strawberry Quick (candy meth) and Reese gives Blaze extensive tips *IN ADVANCE* on how to get to Megan, but he only does so because Blaze promised to get the candy meth in no later than three days.

Blaze can’t get the candy meth. Reese also knows that Cranbert likes Megan (being he always speaks of her at home.) So, Reese tells Cranbert that Blaze likes Megan as well, and gives Cranbert tips on how to get Megan. Cranbert confronts Blaze and tells him that if he doesn’t back off Megan, he will do terribly on the Home Economics project which could throw off Blaze’s GPA, which he surprisingly cares about.

Okay, hope that was short and didn’t sound too terrible. Anyway, well I have this character Penelope (her development is below.) And I REALLY want to fit her in the novel because I find her interesting. I want her to move the plot foward, I want something HUGE to happen. (But I’m not sure what.) So that’s where you come in. I won’t use your ideas unless you give me permission, I just need something to spark my creativity. So yeah, how can she fit into the novel and what would she do to move the plot foward? Thanks! :D

Penelope Regina Holstein
Penelope is a junior in high school, sixteen years old. She is motivated and has to get perfect grades. She is an overachiever – the student body president, the captain of the debate team and is co-captain of the volleyball team. Penelope does so many activities so she can get her fathers death off her mind. She is extremely stressed out and exhausted all the time. She is fearless, fierce and brave. She is assertive and pushes anyone out of the way to get what she wants. She is very sassy and sarcastic, especially blunt. She isn’t afraid to tell people how she feels about them considering she feels inferior to them all. She is a confident speaker who wins most arguments and she constantly uses people for her own ends. She is able to manipulate people easily because most of them are afraid of her aggressiveness. Her father died when she was thirteen and her mother emotionally abandoned her so she learned to think for herself and be aggressive to not let people walk all over her. No one has moved her to break the habit either. She is very intelligent and sharp. Her mother is an alcoholic and has hopped from boyfriend to boyfriend ever since her fathers’ death. Penelope has a seventeen year old sister named Heather who is a senior and the most popular girl in school. They are often competing for attention of others. She hates procrastinating and is very frank with others. She is very uptight and is on a strict schedule everyday. She has insomnia so she barely gets any sleep. She is best friends with Megan Hershey. She is generous, however and cares deeply for animals. She is very nasty at the beginning of the novel, but at the end she becomes much kinder.
- OCD
Oh and also, which POV should the novel be in? I was thinking I could switch between Cranbert and Blaze? But I really want the sole focus on Cranbert.. although I’m not sure how that would work out with the plot. :/

OH! And what do you think of Penelope Holstein as a character?

Thanks again! :D And sorry this question was so long.
..Wow, no answers. Fail.

How can I help my teen daughter who is a heroin junkie?

Question by Judas S: How can I help my teen daughter who is a heroin junkie?
My daughter have reached that age where everything seems awkward and I’m fully aware of that because I’ve once been a teenager too. I know everything seems to become a bit confusing for her but I was deeply disappointed when I found out that she was on heroin most of the time. It breaks my heart to see her every time she goes home stoned and wasted. It even came to a point that my wife and I questioned ourselves if we did something wrong to her as she was growing up. We really want to help her to be clean again. But what makes this all difficult is the fact that she is not aware that we know she’s already a junkie. It’s difficult to start a serious talk with her. Can anyone here give any suggestions on how we can help our beloved daughter? We would gladly appreciate your suggestions.

Have you tried an “intervention”? I don’t mean the TV show on A & E either. I hate the way they exploit those poor families.

Who Has The Highest Rate Of Teen And Drug Abuse In The World?

The United States has the highest rate of teen and young adult drug abuse in the world.

Why does America have the highest rate of teen and drug abuse in the world?

I think America has the highest rate of teen and drug abuse in the World, because from all the media and what people say and act and how they express their feelings. I also feel that teens don’t have their parents at home nowadays, and when they have problems they feel that drugs are the way out. My mom told me when she was in college, and working in the restaurant, the teens would all talk about all the different drugs out there, and which ones were better. They all would ask my mom to do drugs, and that it was cool, but she was always proud to say she is “drug-free”. Teens like everyone else need attention, and when they don’t get that at home, they get it from drugs.

What 4 things  would you tell parents to do to help their teens not get involved with drugs?

  •        Learn about drugs.
  •        Discuss it with your teens.
  •        Read about it with your teens.
  •        Have your teens meet kids who are addicted, so they can see that this is not a good way to go.

“A strong positive attitude will create more miracles than any wonder drug”.

~Patricia Neal

“Today’s students can put dope in their veins or hope in their brains. If they can conceive it and believe it, they can achieve it. They must know it is not their aptitude but their attitude that will determine their altitude”.

~Jesse Jackson

Smart Teen Dating Advice: Protect Yourself From Dating Violence

Dating and relationships are a normal part of growing up for many teenagers, although many teens form their first romantic relationships without any idea of what constitutes “healthy” dating.
