On a previous question, I was inquiring others’ thoughts on jealousy. My girlfriend got a little jealous because I fixed her sister’s tire. She tried to make me jealous, but that attempt ended up backfiring. She ended up embarrassed, and wouldn’t speak to me.
So, when she was laying down in her bed, I casually grab a spot beside her. She rolls over to her side with her back to me. I pay her no attention for a few minutes. After, she kicks my foot. I do the same. She then starts shoving me off the bed with her butt.
I get off the floor and punch her butt. She gets up and we end up wrestling around. Nothing serious, just foolishness. I let her pin me on my back and she tells me to never embarrass her like that again. I told her she deserved it and she puts a pillow on my face. We wrestle a little more until we are just laying there.
We start talking about random things. Eventually, she started talking about our age differences. I am 24 and she is 30. She told me I act much more mature for my age. She asked me why… I didn’t know how to say it without upsetting her.
Truth is, her father recently passed. She has some regrets about it, for she didn’t get to tell him she loved him. My father passed a while ago. He was a drug addict and an alcoholic. I regret it, for I told him he was worthless the last time I had seen him. A week later, he died. I hated myself everyday for that.
He left my mother with a lot of debt and a house that needed fixing up. We all fixed up the house, but the debt remains. My brother and I stay to help her with the bills so she doesn’t get thrown out due to foreclosure. After college, I will be moving out.
I took a gaze at my life before that. I was very immature. Didn’t have a job, cared about only myself, skipped school, was always high on some sort of pills… My neighborhood didn’t help; we live right outside section 8. Racism is definately apparent here. I was one of the only white kids in school.
After my father passed, I don’t know what happened. I grabbed my diploma, got a good job. Stopped drugs, went off to college where I sustain a 3.7 GPA. I make sure the bills are paid and rather cook than get fast food. I work out to keep in shape. Just looking back on it made me realize how quick I matured…
Most of my friends are older than me. I have a FRIEND that is 63 years old. Usually, age difference is a factor to being able to relate to another, but he and I just get along very well. Another friend of mine is 36 and we hang out all the time. I don’t know, but I get along quite well with others much older than myself. I guess it is no surprise as to my girlfriend being 30.
Thing is, she is actually my first girlfriend. I am very confident with my looks and person, but I was very mysogynistic for the longest time. My mother cheated on my father when I was young, and it really messed him up. I didn’t want that for myself, so I pretty much treated all girls like dirt. It isn’t like that now, for my mother and I really talked about it after a huge explosion at the house.
I told her all of this, and I felt kind of odd. Good, but embarrassed. A mixed feeling. My girlfriend started to cry because she started thinking of her father. I told her it was alright, that I was there. She asked me if I truly love her.
Thing is, I told her already that I did. We had a fight before I told her — a big one. We have been together for 4 months, and we have been through A LOT. But, now, I felt like I loved her more than ever. I throw the blanket over us, and tell her that everything outside this blanket doesn’t matter. What is inside is ours, and nobody elses.
We ended up dozing off for a bit. Now, I am thinking that maybe I am much older than I actually am. I don’t even look my age; I look like I am 17 as my girlfriend tells me. I haven’t had sex with her yet. I could, but I am still a virgin. I will admit it with no shame. Not because I couldn’t lose it, but it is of choice.
I really want to make love to her, but kind of unsure. It takes years to construct skyscrapers, but it is all crumbled in an instant. She is gorgeous. Trust me, I am a perv, but not a pig. I have desires — more than most — like any other man. It is just that I am really at a crossroads because I actually care for this woman, and I am finding it hard to believe. What should I do?

I just found out that someone I know is in rehab for using a variety of substances. He has one more month to go and I was wondering what are things to try to put in place to help him stay clean.

Don’t get me wrong. It saved my life. I was drinking a handle bottle of booze everyday and smoking heroin and shooting oxycontin. I was on a quick road to death. But, there are a few things that annoy the crap out of me in EVERY meeting I go to. The use of such words as ‘normie’ and ‘I’m a grateful alcoholic’ and ‘in these walls’ or ‘in these rooms’ and when the literature person tells the meeting that there is reading material they can pick up from the rack and the whole group says ‘nice rack’ like it is funny or something. Or when the secretary asks if anyone can help clean up after the meeting has concluded and a bunch of nimrods all yell out ‘that’s the secretary’s job.’ I can’t forget to mention how many people overuse the ‘this disease is so cunning, baffling, powerful.’ Last, but certainly not least, is when they close with the Lord’s prayer and the person says ‘who’s father?’ then the group starts the ‘Our Father who….’ Anyway, I’m just rambling on and on but I wish people didn’t have to be so stereotypical AA dorks. It gets so annoying. Have some originality and quit being a robot like everyone else.
I’ll end by saying, again, I like the program. It has worked wonders for me. But, there are so many meetings I will not step foot into anymore because of everything I mentioned above. It is just way too annoying & really shows what huge followers some of these people are. I’m hoping the few meetings that are free of the crap will not be infested by other AA members that enjoy being a robot so I can continue to stay sober.
If you go to AA and can answer my question as to why so many people say the same thing and can’t get an original thought in their head I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Youre new – and you can be as irritated with it as you want….(and trust me, everyone is irritated with it at first – however, as you gain more time, the ones who are intolerant of it stop going, and go back out – and things get worse)

It seems so convenient to use the “I’m a alcoholic” card in defense of gross conduct.
When Bill Clinton finally admitted to his indiscretion, did he use the alcoholism card? No.
My grandfather was an alcoholic, and to my recolection, his illness did not drive him to molest teenage boys. To the best of my memory, I don’t remember him being involved in any bribery & obstruction of justice scandels.
Why is it so hard for republicans to just admit it when they do bad things?

Online driving test
The online driving theory test is made up of two parts; the multiple choice part and the hazard perception part. If you pass one part and fail the other you’ll fail the whole online test, and you’ll need to take both parts again.
A. Multiple choice element in online theory test
The theory test is a computer-based test at various tests centres around the country.
This section is designed to test your understanding of the theory behind driving. Before the online test starts you’ll be given instructions on how the test works. You can also choose to go through a practice session of the multiple choice questions to get used to the layout of the test. At the end of the practice session the real test will begin. You have 57 minutes to complete the test. There is a 15-minute practice session you can work through before starting the tests. The questions in each multiple choice test in driving theory test vary according to the category of vehicle you’re hoping to obtain a license for, i.e. a motorcycle theory test will contain specific questions that don’t appear in any other test. A question and several answer options will appear onscreen and you have to select the correct answer to the question by touching the screen. Some questions may require more than one answer. You can navigate between questions and ‘flag’ questions that you want to come back to later in the test. After the multiple choice part you can choose to have a break of up to three minutes before the hazard perception part starts. For cars and motorcycles you’ll be asked randomly selected 50 multiple-choice questions in 57 minutes and you need to get at least 43 right to pass. For lorries and buses you’ll be asked 60 questions in 70 minutes and the pass mark is 51 out of 60. The cost of the theory test is £28.50
B. Hazard Perception Test
After the break you’ll then be shown a short tutorial video clip about how the hazard perception part works. This forms a second section of the online driving theory test and must be passed at the same time. This section is designed to tests your awareness of potential hazards whilst driving. The hazard perception part is also delivered on a computer but you respond by clicking a button on the mouse. You’ll be presented with a series of 14 video clips each about a minute long, which feature every day road scenes. In each clip there’ll be at least one developing hazard, but one of the clips will feature two developing hazards. The videos feature various types of hazard, such as road conditions, vehicles and pedestrians. The earlier you spot a hazard developing that may require the driver to take some action, the higher the score. There are 15 scoreable hazards in the tests and candidates can score up to 5 points on each hazard. Unlike multiple choice questions, for the hazard perception test there are no separate versions for different vehicles e.g. car, bike, heavy vehicle etc, each vehicle category takes the same test, however the pass mark is different for different categories of tests. You won’t be able to review your answers to the hazard perception test; as on the road, you’ll only have one chance to respond to the developing hazard. The pass mark for the car and motorcycle hazard perception part of the theory test is 44 out of 75. For lorries and buses the pass mark is 50 out of 75.
