When I start feeling alittle on the bloated side, I drink a fifth of tequila, in shots of course, but over the course of the night will polish off that puppy. Well, usually, over the next immediate day I will have lost about 5 lbs and another 5 over the course of a couple days….is this safe?

I’m trying to lose weight. No fad diet – just eating less of what i’ve been eating, and sticking with the exercise program as usual. Instead of going to the freezer and getting a bowl of ice cream, i’ll grab a huge glass, fill it with ice, then water. I often end up guzzling a half gallon in a few minutes.
But the diet isn’t working. Can drinking lots of water cause sustained weight gain? Instead of calories in vs calories out, perhaps the simple physics is weight in vs weight out.

No,,,this is a good idea. You will flush out your system and when the temporary water wait gets flushed through your system, you will start losing weight.

Okay so I’m only fourteen (please don’t roll your eyes at another teenager trying to shed some pounds). I’ve had trouble with my weight ever since I started to hit puberty in 4th grade. I’ve never exactly had great role models when it comes to a healthy lifestyle. My dad is unfortunately an excellent cook and likes to drink. He’s not an alcoholic or anything like that, mind you, just enough for it to effect his weight. My mother on the other hand is opposite. She runs 8 miles daily and doesn’t eat much besides protein shakes and starbucks.
I’ve always been one of the bigger kids. At first it was just because of my height. I had always been one of the tallest in my class. Now I’ve peaked at 5′ 9″ and those freshmen boys are finally starting to catch up (another incentive to lose weight). This year being my first in high school, I’ve been really involved it the theater. This has taken up a lot of my free time but I absolutely love it. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I have a lot of talent and have even been told by upper-class men that I’m the future our drama department. That all means a lot to me but there is something I’ve noticed; fat girls don’t get great parts. I don’t want to always have to play the frumpy mom or other unappealing side parts. I know for me to enjoy the opportunies to come I’ll have to lose weight.
Currently I’m a size 12, 180 pounds and 5′ 9″. Ugh… I’m deffinately not so proud of that. I’m busy so much during the week with homework and late play practices, I don’t have much time for exercise. I was doing weight watchers, but keeping up with it has become way to much. I tend to eat when I’m stressed, and I also get stressed when I eat, and when I get stressed I tend to procrastinate, which leads to more eating and stressing… you get the picture. I need to get over all more proactive. I’d say my worst enemy is carbs. I’m not a picky eater at all, meaning I am willing to try new, healthy foods.
Please try to give me new ideas when it comes to packing lunch, quick exercises, and other tips. Anyone out there who can help me develop a plan to stick to. I want so badly to conquer this and be proud of my body. Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Hi! My name is Katie, you answered my last question, and trust me hunny, losing weight was the biggest accomplishment of my life, you will feel so good and proud of yourself everytime someone gives to a compliment! I’m 19 years old by the way, and I was also always the bigger girl in high school and jr high! I know exactly how you feel! What made me start losing weight was to completely cut off fast food and soft drinks! Forgetttaaa bout em! Only drink water! Trust me girlie, the first week is the hardest, then after that it keeps on getting easier. I used to HATE to work out…now i look forward to it as my “me” time, as I am in college, and I have a boyfriend and stuff. You really have to concentrate on when you eat, what you eat, and how you eat. For example, for breakfast, I would have a bowl of cereal, or oatmeal and a piece of fruit, and a glass of skim milk. For a mid morning snack, I would have another piece of fruit or string cheese. For lunch, usually a sandwich, turkey on wheat with mustard, a slice of cheese, and lettuce. Afternoon snack, some almonds…or a can of healthy choice soup. For dinner, lean protein, fish or chicken, with veggies like cauliflower or broccoli and carrots. Look up on yahoo! health some of the articles, do your research and you will have a good idea of what is healthy and what is not. A good snack while on a diet is fat free yogurt…not filling, but it satisfies your sweet tooth. And again, you have to exercise daily! Whether it be walking, running, bicycling, you have to get up and move! The idea here is to burn more calories you take in! Google your BMR and your BMI, and you should go from there. For example, if your BMR is 1500, if you ate 1500 calories that day, you wouldn’t gain nor lose any weight. If you ate more than 1500, you would gain, but also factor in that your BMR is calories burned to keep your body functioning, you actually burn more than that in a regular day. I have been on the contraceptive pill Yasmin and have found out that I have put on half a stone over the past 6 months! This may be due to me being with my boyfriend for this long and feeling ‘content’ with myself but now I have had enough and this New Year has made me want to lose the little belly I have gained! Haha. I am 9 stone 2/4 (it fluctates) and 5 ft 1 or 2 (I’m not really sure).
I am currently at 6th form and as a student I need ideas for food quick and easy and on the go which is also not going to make me fat! I also need some tips on alcoholic beverages that are not too high in calories, as I am a bit of a party animal and I’m sure drinking loads of malibu and coke probably hasn’t helped me with my figure. Haha.

What is a stone?
Birth control pills made me gain massive amounts of weight. Nothing worked to lose it, I had to get off the pills. Everyone is different, some women don’t gain a pound.

Recently I have been drinking a lot more because I’m away at college and I’ve noticed a major weight gain since around the time I started binge drinking. I didn’t think it was possible to gain so much weight so fast being that I have a small frame and I eat healthy. So can my binge drinking have been the cause of this recent weight gain?
